Avocado Face Mask

by Spa Snob

Hi Beauties!

Happy Eastover to you all! Hope you’re enjoying your Peeps and Manischewitz and are staying happy and healthy in quarantine. I know Church and Temple are both out of the picture right now but we can still pray at home for some glowing skin. And while the universe is working on our skin care prayers, let’s help speed up the process by making a face mask!

Now, I know it’s not easy to frolic off to the market right now. Those lines are tough, but not as tough as the lines that can form on your face if it’s not properly taken care of. Do it for your face, your skin will thank you. While others are busy hoarding toilet paper, I encourage you to flock to the produce department. Set your sights on the cucumbers and avocados. Grab yourself a lemon as well and some unfiltered honey. These babies can work wonders on our skin, eyes, hair, and stress levels.

I still feel some hesitation from some of you about venturing out of your house for facial supplies. But, picture yourself horizontal on your cushiest surface adorned with chilled cucumber slices on your peepers and an avocado face mask sipping on a glass of lemon water listening the relaxing music. Cue Enya Only Time. If that doesn’t sound like a deep of fresh air, I have other ideas but I like this one in this moment so let’s just take it for a spin.

Start off by slicing your cucumber and chilling in the fridge for 10-15 minutes. You can save the excess in the freezer as I know running to the market was already a challenge for most of us with this project. In the meantime, light your favorite candle (mine is the brand Voluspa in the scent Prosecco Rose) or add a calming essential oil to your diffuser (my favorite is the brand doTerra in the scent Serenity but any Lavender, Eucalyptus, or Magnolia will also work wonders). Turn on Spotify and pick some music that sighs “oohsa.”

When you’re ready to break out your Chef status in the kitchen, take half of an avocado and mash it into a bowl with a squeeze of lemon and drizzle of honey (about a teaspoon). (You can save the other half of avocado for a hair mask, or for a nomtastical moment). Take the rest of the lemon, slice it up and serve yourself some delish lemon water. The acidy in the lemon when ingested helps to smooth out and blemishes and brighten your skin tone. Lather your masterful avocado mixture onto face, neck, and décolletage and leave on for 15 minutes. Don’t forget about your cucumbers! Get them out of the fridge and onto your eyes while you’re letting your mask work its magic. Take some deep breathes and enjoy!

Wash off with medium warm water. No cleanser or moisturizer necessary here as the lemon will serve to detox your pores and the avocado and honey will act as natural moisture. However if you’d like to moisturize you can but use something without much oil. Use a clean towel to pat dry.

If you thought this was a fabulous relaxing experience, you can recreate it up to 2 times a week. You want to be able to give your skin a rest in between masks decreasing its chances to become overwhelmed and angry.

Thanks for taking this journey with me!
Until next time.

XOXO, Stay Snobby
